It’s critical that the state’s investments in transportation help us achieve these goals.
ClimatePlan is working with our partners to align the state’s transportation investments with its climate goals — so the state prioritizes funding transportation projects that help reduce greenhouse gases, and also promote public health, sustainability, and social equity.
Below are our current areas of focus.
In spring 2017, ClimatePlan and key partners are advocating to ensure our decision-makers reflect the diversity of California’s transportation needs.
This bill, authored by Assemblymember Cervantes, will make sure there is more equitable representation on the California Transportation Commission by requiring at least one voting members on the California Transportation Commission to represent environmental justice.

Building Sustainable Communities
Since the passage of SB 375 in 2008, ClimatePlan has worked with our partners to implement this groundbreaking law. SB 375 links transportation, land use, and housing plans with the goal of reducing vehicle miles traveled and greenhouse gas emissions — while also improving public health, expanding access to opportunity, reducing air pollution, and conserving valuable landscapes.
To build upon the successes of SB 375, ClimatePlan, Natural Resources Defense Council, and TransForm are co-sponsoring SB 150. This bill, authored by Senator Allen, will ensure that our regional greenhouse gas reduction targets support sustainable, equitable communities – where people can find affordable homes near good jobs with plenty of transportation choices, in regions where farms and natural landscapes are protected.
If passed, SB 150 will:
– Align our regional greenhouse gas reduction targets to SB 32 (Pavley).
– Monitor the regions’ progress to achieve their greenhouse gas reduction targets.
